Services

I offer a fast and reliable historical research and fact-checking service for historians and researchers who are unable to travel to London. My own research interests lie in nineteenth- and twentieth-century social and political history, but I can undertake research associated with most post-medieval historical subjects.

Some of the many resource-rich facilities I can easily access in London are:

  • The National Archives
  • The British Library
  • The National Maritime Museum
  • Senate House and other London University libraries and archives
  • The London Metropolitan Archives
  • The National Gallery Archive
  • Tower Hamlets Local History Library and Archives, and other local authority libraries and archives

I also have editing skills and experience, and offer a copy-editing and proofreading service for clients who feel that draft works intended for publication might benefit from independent scrutiny.

If you are interested in finding out more about my services, please contact me to discuss your requirements. The parameters of the research and provisional timescales (which may be subject to modification in the light of research developments) will be agreed in writing at the outset.

I shall keep you updated as work progresses, and provide a full written account of my findings, including archival references and any relevant citations from the secondary literature, at the conclusion of research.

Supporting documentation will be supplied: digital images are provided free of charge, but in some cases (e.g. certificates of birth, marriage and death ordered from the General Register Office, photocopies of records from repositories which do not allow the use of digital cameras) the cost of obtaining documents will be charged as expenses.
