Welcome to Dr Andrew Lewis Historical Research
Working on a freelance basis, I provide a specialist historical research and fact-checking service to individuals and organisations. I have worked for businesses, academics and authors who have written books about a variety of historical subjects, as well as members of the public interested in their family history.
I provide a free assessment of any proposed research project, and advise on the likely nature of the work required and the possible length of time the project might take to complete. I provide regular written updates for my clients, and produce a full report at the conclusion of the investigation.
I have access to all of the major London archive repositories and public libraries (and occasionally make research trips outside the capital), and am thoroughly familiar with the archival finding aids and library catalogues needed to identify relevant collections, files, individual documents and published works. When necessary, I can obtain good quality digital images of particularly important records (which are sent free of charge) or produce accurate written abstracts or extracts.
